Suzanne Chenier, BScPT is a registered physical therapist having graduated from McGill University Montreal QC in 1987. She also completed the diploma program in Postural Reconstruction® from the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France in January 2000. She has been working with this treatment approach since beginning her training in 1995. It is a comprehensive approach, considering the whole body in dealing with musculoskeletal problems. Her practice has come to be mainly working with people in chronic or persistent pain. She grew up in Montreal, Quebec, but has made BC her home since 1995. She is now located in beautiful Victoria. Postural Reconstruction® (PR®) is a neuromuscular technique based on the concept that tonic imbalance in the muscular chains of the body leads to muscular shortening causing postural deformations, structural alterations, mechanical dysfunction, movement pattern disorder and pain. Physical Therapists trained in PR® use various hands-on techniques, combined with active client participation, to overcome the hypertonicity of the muscle chains, work towards normalizing muscle tone in order to restore more normal morphology and improve functional abilities. In general, a series of 12 - 20   treatments of weekly 1 to 1½ hours is necessary to obtain lasting results.
